Up next, we have Audrey Chow who has participated in two #ArtsinthePark’s before, and performed in Giselle Liu’s two #ArtsinthePark pieces this year!

I loved… how much fun it was to perform and be part of the creative process for Perfect Creatures because of the funny story line about four little girl scientists who try and fail to create a perfect creature. While they are asleep, the creature comes to life and when they wake up, it is back to being broken, until the end where they try to fix it once again and the creature turns on them scaring them off.

I also loved our Perfect Creatures costume which was a beautiful dress with a leathered burgundy and black top, and a gold and black textured skirt. It had two wing-like structures sticking out along the two shoulders and we wore shiny gold leggings along with our dress.

I had another costume for Where the Wild Things Are at Night that was completely illuminated with bright blue LED lights for the night performance which looked so good on stage as the whole stage lit up with our costumes.

I learned… a lot about working together as a group and spacial awareness when dancing together. I also learnt a lot about techniques that are used to tell a story and how to successfully convey the message to the audience.

I am going to miss… the people that I worked with and how much fun it was during rehearsals. Also the weekend of the performances was very eventful and had a very uplifting atmosphere with performances going on the whole weekend. It was a lot of fun to perform in and I got to meet a lot of talented young people.

Tell us something we don’t know… Arts in the Park is a very different event especially when compared to more traditional ones. The dance style is very creative and different from technical dance styles such as ballet or jazz. It is more free and is actually quite hard to describe because the pieces are always created through lots of interesting and diverse movements. I like being part of Arts in the Park because I get to meet a lot of talented dancers and work with amazing choreographers. I also find that with participating in Arts in the Park, I grow a lot as a dancer as I always seem to find myself stepping out of my comfort zone which is something I don't get to experience everyday.

What’s next…? I am performing in Clockenflap with YAF and choreographer Kirsten Ho. I am also hoping to be able to participate in a flagship musical with YAF next year as Oliver! this year has been very successful and was packed with talent and passion.
